Which Countries Can I Visit with a Schengen Visa? What is the validity of Schengen Visa?

The Schengen Area is a territory of 26 European countries. It consists of 22 European Union member states and four other countries that are part of the European Free Trade Association, which are Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein.
If one of the Schengen Area member states has issued you a multiple-entry Schengen visa, then you can visit a wide number of countries in Europe. First of all you can visit the each of the Schengen member states.
Secondly, there is a number of countries in Europe which are Non-EU countries, but they still accept visitors that hold a Schengen visa. These non-Schengen countries that you can also visit with a Schengen visa are:
Albania, Antigua and Barbuda, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Gibraltar, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Sao Tome and Principe, Serbia, Turkey.
Depending on the purpose of your travel the embassy or consulate of your Schengen destination country will issue you the appropriate visa. There are three main types of visas that are issued which include tourist visas, business visas, working visas, student visas and transit visas.

Tourist Schengen Visa Validity:
A multiple entry Tourist visa gives the right to its holder to stay within the Schengen territory for 90 days at most, within a period of 180 days, to enter and leave whenever she or he wants to.
In the meantime, single entry and double entry visa holders will have to wait for the embassy or consulate they have applied to decide on its validity after processing all documentation. Sometimes they issue you a Tourist Schengen visa for the amount of time you have sought for, and sometimes for a longer or shorter period.

The embassy not only appoints the number of days you can stay in the Schengen territory, but also the earliest date you can enter and the last date when you can leave. This is all indicated on the visa sticker affixed in your passport.
